SETCO Spindle Lubricants

Today, there are four SETCO Spindle Lubricants that service the precision spindle markets.  These new high performance greases provide a substantial increase in the reliable operating speed of the spindle, or enable running at the same speed and reducing operating temperatures.  Generally, it has been shown that higher operating temperatures reduce spindle bearing grease life by 50% for every 15 degrees Celsius in running bearing temperature.  The new line of SETCO SSL greases typically adds 50% more service life to the grease, and therefore the spindle bearings. These new greases use advanced chemical formulations to enable our spindles to run faster, longer, and cooler for a competitive edge that no other spindle manufacture can offer.

SETCO SSL-02 is special high performance grease exclusively manufactured for precision high speed ball bearing applications operation up to 2million DmN (Speed in RPM X Bearing Mean Diameter) with a service temperature range of -50^o C to 120^o C. 

For more conventional spindle application utilizing precision ball bearing spindles we offer SSL-03.  SSL-03 is rated for spindle speeds up to 1.5 million DmN and replaces the previously used SETCO SSL-01 product. 

For lower speed spindles utilizing line contact cylindrical or tapered roller bearings we offer SSL-04 providing a service temperature ranting of -35^o C to 140^o C.

SETCO SSL-02 GREASE

SETCO SSL-02 is used in spindle bearings of machine tools, e.g. grinding, drilling, CNC, and motorized precision spindles. SSL-02 is a special high performance grease exclusively manufactured by Lubcon™ for SETCO for precision high speed ball bearing applications operating Up to 2 Million n•dm.

SETCO SSL-03 GREASE

SETCO SSL-03 is used in spindle bearings of machine tools, e.g. grinding, milling, CNC, and motorized precision spindles.  SSL-03 is a special high performance grease exclusively manufactured by Lubcon™ for SETCO for precision high speed ball bearing applications operating up to 1.5 Million n•dm.

SETCO SSL-04 GREASE

SETCO SSL-04 grease can be used in spindle bearings of a wide variety of machine tool applications, e.g. grinding, milling, turning and motorized precision spindles.  SSL-04 is a high performance grease exclusively manufactured by Lubcon™ for SETCO for precision line contact taper and cylindrical roller spindle bearings with high load capabilities.

SSL-04 is a multi-purpose high-performance grease for all types of rolling and plain bearing applications.  SSL-04 is thickened with lithium soap and has a special base oil mixture with additives to optimize lubricant properties, such as; corrosion protection, aging corrosion, and lubricating film stability, as well as high and low temperature behavior.  The special soap complex prevents grease separation providing long life. 

SETCO ASSEMBLY LUBE

SETCO Assembly Lube is a light-colored lubrication and assembly paste containing a new type of solid lubricant to help eliminate friction and fretting corrosion. Special additives have been used for anti-aging, anti-wear and anti-corrosion along with metal activators to also provide the qualities of a good rolling and plain bearing grease for moderate load applications.

SETCO Assembly Lube is a quality lubricant for light duty applications, such as; sliding surfaces (material combinations: Fe/Fe, Fe/nonferrous, nonferrous/nonferrous), machinery operating with low-to-medium speeds, and for applications subject to high static and dynamic loads (such as dovetail, box way,  and other profile slide mechanisms).  SETCO Assembly Lube assures smooth operation of mechanical adjusting devices.  It is highly suitable for use as protection against frictional and fretting corrosion; i.e.  spindle and splined shafts, assembly of press fits, chucks, bearing seats, bolts. SETCO Assembly Lube will prevent stick-slip and help ensure proper seating to improve machine accuracies.
